I will use this forum to post interesting videos, share great home & car safety tips, and be a resource for other valuable insurance-related topics.
For the first time, the National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm watch for Southern California, including the Los Angeles area, due to Hurricane Hilary. This warning means tropical storm conditions are possible within 48 hours.
I thought it might be a good time to offer some tips to keep you and your loved ones prepared and safe as we face potential heavy rain and strong winds and surf:
Take any necessary actions to protect your family and secure your home or business from potential flooding or high winds.
Charge your phones and other electronics in case you lose power during the storm and have flashlights, battery-powered lights and auxiliary power sources on hand.
Make an emergency communication plan with family members and friends.
Check on your emergency supplies, and make sure you have enough food and water for several days.
Listen to local officials for recommended preparedness actions, including possible evacuation.
Keep a full tank of gas and a plan of where you will go if evacuated.
If not evacuated, avoid unnecessary trips and errands. The safest place to be during a storm is in your home.
Hopefully, the tropical storm will weaken substantially before it lands, but it is best to be prepared for your safety.
Should you experience any storm related damage, I encourage you to protect your home from further damage and to call my office Monday morning so we can provide you help and valuable services should a claim need to be submitted.
We are thinking of you during this time, and are here should you need us.
