Known around Hartselle as “the 4-H lady,” Betty Gottler dedicated 33 years to Alabama 4-H, 28 of those as the Morgan County 4-H agent, impacting an estimated 500,000 young people along the way.

Though she retired in 2012, her service continues. Gottler now supports 4-H as a board member of the Alabama 4-H Foundation, an advisor to the National 4-H Council, and archivist for the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals history committee.

Preserving 4-H’s story is one of her greatest passions, because her own story is deeply woven into the history of Alabama 4-H.
