We frequently receive calls about owners calling about their dogs that have been struck by vehicles. While we understand these situations are heartbreaking 💔, it is important for the public to understand that Animal Control is an ordinance-based agency 📋.

If your dog is injured after being hit by a vehicle 🚗🐕, it is the responsibility of the owner to safely remove the animal from the roadway and seek immediate veterinary care 🏥🐾. It is also the responsibility of pet owners to ensure their animals are properly confined 🏡 and not allowed to roam freely where they can be injured or cause traffic accidents ⚠️.

Our officers 🚔🐾 do not provide veterinary transport services for owned animals and are not authorized to assume custody of privately owned pets simply because they have been injured. Our duties are limited to enforcing local ordinances 📜 and responding to situations that fall within our legal authority.
