That knee shield giving you problems?

Instead of trying to force your way through it, give them something else to worry about.

Threaten a foot lock on their top foot. A lot of people will instinctively put the boot on to defend it. The moment they extend that leg, the knee shield drops… and that’s your opening.

Get chest-to-chest, kill the space, and start working your pass.

Sometimes the easiest guard pass isn’t about smashing harder—it’s about creating the reaction you want.

Every defense creates a new opportunity. 👊

The Peruvian necktie is already a dangerous submission, but when your opponent defends correctly, they often expose something even better.

In this sequence, Coach Matt shows how to flow directly from the Peruvian necktie into an arm lock, turning their defense into your next attack. Instead of forcing the choke, recognize the reaction and let your opponent guide you to the finish.

Tag a training partner who needs to add this combo to their game!

If someone turns their back, don’t miss your opportunity to finish the fight!

When people fall or get taken down in a fight, the first instinct is to get back to the feet, which causes them to expose their back when they turn to build up. This is your best opportunity to seize control.

Get behind them and use your hooks and arms to flatten them belly down and pin them there. You then have enough control to finish the fight with strikes or the good ol RNC.
