HORTON RECORDS 13TH ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF RETURNS TO CAIN’S BALLROOM SAT. NOV. 7
Family-friendly event includes music, chili samples, silent auction & more
TULSA, Okla. June 2, 2026 – Tickets are on sale Tuesday, June 2 at 10 AM for the 13th Annual Horton Records Rock ’n Folk ’n Chili Cookoff, taking place Saturday Nov. 7, 2026, beginning at 5:30 PM at Tulsa’s historic Cain’s Ballroom. Proceeds from this all-ages, family-friendly event support Oklahoma musicians and music projects through the Tulsa-based nonprofit Horton Records.
Austin-based Greyhounds headline the evening with their gritty, R&B-infused blues-rock. Like “Hall & Oates meets ZZ Top," Grehounds blend melodic vocals and funky, groove-driven keyboards with raw, Texas boogie-blues. Chicago-born JD Simo is also on the lineup. Now living in Nashville, this psych-blues guitar maestro is a highly sought-after producer and session musician for the biggest names in music and film, who’s dedicated to keeping his music honest and authentic.
The evening opens with Oklahoma musicians. Tulsa’s Samantha Crain is a Choctaw-American singer, songwriter, musician, and producer known for her emotionally charged, poetic lyricism and her genre-spanning sound, which blends folk, Americana, and indie-pop. An art punk band from Oklahoma City, Stepmom contrasts dreamy harmonies, ambient cello and synth with angsty guitar riffs and powerful lead vocals.
In addition to musical performances, the evening features chili samples from Tulsa-area restaurants and food trucks, door prizes, live art, raffles, and silent auctions. Attendees can vote for their favorite chili, and the grand-prize-winner will receive a full-sized, authentic title belt, along with boxing gloves, wraps, and a three-month gym membership courtesy of Tulsa’s Engine Room Boxing Gym.
“We had an event scheduled earlier in the year to celebrate 20 years of Horton Records, but unfortunately that show was cancelled because of a snow storm. That lineup included Greyhounds and JD Simo. We're thrilled to be able to bring them to Tulsa this fall for the Chili Cook Off, along with a full band show from Tulsa's Samantha Crain and Oklahoma City's Stepmom," says Brian Horton, President of Horton Records. “This is the one time of the year that Horton Records raises funds to help Oklahoma-based musicians with recording, manufacturing, and distribution of music, along with tour support, booking, business administration and showcase events. For Horton Records, this event is more important than it's ever been, as funding for non-profits has dwindled in recent years. Please consider joining us at a legendary venue on November 7th for music, chili sampling, live art, silent auction, and a celebration of community.”
Donations of non-perishable food and coats will be collected at the door for those in need. Those who choose to donate will receive a free t-shirt. All tickets include all-you-can-sample chili from Tulsa area restaurants and food trucks (while supplies last).
