Enjoying time outside this summer? Mosquitoes are out too.

While the risk of West Nile virus remains low, most people who get West Nile virus don't feel sick, but some may experience symptoms like fever, headache, body aches or fatigue. In rare cases, the illness can become more serious.

Knowing the signs and staying informed can help you make the best decisions for your health this mosquito season. If you develop symptoms after being bitten by mosquitoes, talk with your healthcare provider.

Heavy rain continues to be in the forecast for the next few days, and flooding is a concern - especially during heavy downpours. Please take precautions to stay safe!

Important Flood Safety Tips:
• Never drive through standing water. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
• Never drive around barricades. They are there for your safety.
• Local street flooding is possible during intense rain. Don’t drive through standing water. Find an alternate route and allow the stormwater system time to safely move the water away.
• Avoid walking through flooded areas.
• Check local forecasts and alerts regularly.
• Give yourself extra travel time and use caution on wet roads.
• Keep children and pets away from fast-moving water or flooded areas.
• Know the difference between outdoor siren tones and what each means: www.cityoftulsa.org

Lead in soil may be putting children at risk without families even realizing it.

Older homes built before 1978, urban neighborhoods and areas affected by past industrial activity may have elevated lead levels in the soil. Testing is one of the best ways to identify potential hazards.

For more information or to request FREE soil testing, call us at 918-595-4200.

Vacation season is here! Before you unpack and settle into your hotel room, take a few minutes to check for bed bugs. A quick inspection can help you avoid bringing unwanted hitchhikers home.

If you spot bed bugs or evidence of bed bugs, inform management and ask to be moved to another room and not next door to the affected room.

For more information on bed bugs, please visit tulsa-health.org/bed-bugs.
