Tucson Fire Department
Inherent in this goal is the desire to protect and enhance the quality of life of our citizens and community by responding quickly, performing with excellence, serving at every opportunity, and providing public education with special emphasis on programs for children. All emergency and non-emergency services are developed, maintained, and provided by highly trained professionals dedicated to excellence.
TFD’s Wildland Team were strategically stationed around A Mountain last night during the fireworks show, ready to respond to any spot fires caused by drifting embers.
Crews quickly knocked down two small fires with assistance from Engine 15. Fortunately, the winds worked in our favor, carrying embers away from the mountain and helping minimize fire risk.
A special thank you to Tucson Water for wetting down the mountain before the fireworks display. This helped reduce the fire risk and supported our crews’ efforts to keep the community safe!

🔥What does “Fire, Nature Unknown” mean?
Despite the name, a “Fire, Nature Unknown” call doesn’t always mean there’s a confirmed fire. It’s a dispatch category used when someone reports possible smoke, flames, or another situation that may require the fire department, but the exact nature of the incident isn’t yet known. Once crews arrive, they determine what’s happening, and the call may be reclassified, or there may not be a fire at all.
