The Colibrí Center for Human Rights upholds dignity by accompanying families of disappeared migrants, identifying and honoring those who have lost their lives on the U.S. - Mexico border. Of the remains that have been found, hundreds are still unidentified. At least 2,500 people are still missing. Their families are left with the agonizing uncertainty of not knowing with has become of their loved
one. This crisis is complex and built upon layers of injustice. The same dehumanizing and deadly policies that created the crisis of death and disappearance continue to expand. At the same time, an average of 365 people lose their lives each year. The Colibrí Center for Human Rights is a family advocacy nonprofit working to end migrant death and related suffering on the U.S.-Mexico border. We partner with families, forensic scientists, and humanitarians to find the missing and help identify the dead. We also work to bear witness to the loss of life and hold space for families to build community, share their stories, and help raise consciousness about this human rights crisis.
