Can I offer anyone a Bourbon Spiced Cider?
This holiday cocktail is festive ➕ versatile because it can be made as a pitcher drink for larger parties or a mixed drink made to order. I like the addition of orgeat (an almond syrup) because it makes it a little smoother, it adds a silkiness, but you can also skip this ingredient.
Here’s the recipe:
2 oz bourbon (I made this with Kentucky bourbon whisky - Maker’s Mark)
1/2 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz Amaretto
1/4 oz Orgeat (can skip if needed)
About 4 oz Trader Joe’s (or any other) Spiced Cider. Stir in a cocktail shaker and poor over ice in a rocks glass. Serve with a lemon twist.
For pitcher version, multiply by however many drinks you want to serve and add all ingredients into pitcher (except ice). Pour over ice in rocks glass to serve.
Cheers! (And hello Sam & Buster who always like to be part of the party). 🐶😉

A favorite fall effortless appetizer - Roasted sweet potato wedges.
I had a friend over for impromptu wine and apps and realized after I invited that I was limited in app offerings. But I had these gorgeous sweet potatoes 🍠 and a few fixings so created a no-frills app. And guess what? My visiting friend asked for the recipe!
- sweet potatoes (some were the stokes sweet potato which came out extra sticky) 😋
- olive oil + spices (I used salt, pepper and Ras el hanout)
- nuts and herbs to finish (I used pecans and cilantro)
- Preheat oven to 425. - Cut potatoes in large wedges. Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any spices
- Roast until done (about 35 minutes), then broil another 5-7 minutes for crispy, browned edges.
- Top with a little butter or olive oil plus chopped herbs and nuts.
You could sub pepitas, sesame seeds, or shredded coconut in for nuts.
