Tucson Clean & Beautiful keeps our city clean and green through tree planting, community cleanups, Adopt-a-Site, green stormwater projects & sustainability education. 520 acres of additional tree canopy have been added in the Tucson area, thanks to the trees that YOU have planted through Trees for Tucson!

At long last, our project with the City of South Tucson to bring much-needed shade and beauty to South 6th Avenue, one of the region’s busiest pedestrian corridors, was planted today ✨🌳

Funded through the CDBG program, this project doubled the size of eleven planting boxes along a previously treeless stretch of South 6th Ave 🪏🌱We planted Netleaf Hackberries and Palo Breas for shade, along with Hesperaloes as accent plants to help beautify the corridor.

These beautiful trees and plants will be lovingly maintained by local South Tucson landscaping business We Do It All (check out their Facebook 🍃). We’re incredibly grateful for their continued care, support, and dedication to watering these new plantings and helping them flourish for the community 🌳💧

And huge thanks to for the concrete sawing and box expansion, the Pima County CDBG team for their guidance, and the City of South Tucson, especially .t.council (Vice Mayor Melissa Brown-Dominguez) and City Planner Josue Licea for their leadership and support throughout this project.

These new trees and plants will help shade pedestrians and transit riders, beautify storefronts, reduce urban heat, and calm traffic along one of South Tucson’s busiest streets. 🌳☀️
