Barrio Books

Today is Syrena’s 35th Birthday🌻 Feliz Cumpleaños hasta al Cielo, Syrenita. Te extraño un chingo🖤 We would like to celebrate her memory by holding a book drive starting today, her birthday and ending October 4th.

The books collected during this time will continue the mission Syrena envisioned to bring access to BIPOC and cultural representatives literature. Representing and uplifting La Gente de Oro in an unprecedented era we are experiencing.

We have over 500 books currently that we are ready to start finding space for and are hoping to collect more chapter books for youth (middle-high school) and children’s books. This is to start getting books into the community through donation and organization making them accessible in areas needed most.

Our first collection will be this Saturday outside the future La Syrena Barrio Book space.
