SPARK Day #5:
It was the final day of our fabulous week of service! This day is always so bittersweet but important to trust that the lessons we have taught this week will continue to resonate in these 16 amazing youth as they continue their journey closer to Jesus...
Here's what we did today! We had Karen Kemble McIntire as a witness of faith and she gave an excellent talk on her struggles of losing her dad (in the physical sense).... Then we started to get right to work on the main project of the day, which was preparing and serving a delicious lunch for the Parish staff workers. We only took a break one time and that was to say a prayer with the older teens before they embarked on their exciting Steubenville adventure! God bless Hollie Danis and all the souls accompanying her this weekend! ...... Our lunch was pretty fantastic!! We decided to use an Indian theme for our special meal to help welcome Father Michael to our warm, church family! We looked up easy recipes, decorated the undercroft, prepared all the food, and some of us even learned a few Indian dance moves to show off! :)
After serving the dessert, we surprised one of our own fantastic Sparks with a birthday song! Some of us even baked cookies and cake balls at home for the occasion!
After spending this special time with our guests, we worked hard to clean up the undercroft and restore it back to normal.... Then we went outside to conclude this magnificent week with an old-fashioned water balloon toss... the toss off course was followed by letting us all try to attack each other with these liquid-filled orbs of joy! Many of us got soaked and it was a blast!! Again, it's really a shame that such a wonderful week has to end but our journey remains ongoing! The best part is that we have a stronger bond with our fellow Sparks to help us through...

Spark Day #4:
It was such a busy day filled with so much wonderful service! First we made inspirational placemats for the people of the Soup Kitchen.... we delivered the placemats and did lots of chores around the kitchen. We weeded, made lots of peanut butter sandwiches, and cleaned the tables!!!
Then we came back to the undercroft and listened to a scripture reading in a Lectio Divina activity! It was so peaceful and God's holy work was all around! ... Next, we made baby blankets for Miami County Right To Life and we filled several goodie bags for the older teens who are heading off on their Steubenville retreat this weekend..... the last activity of service that we enjoyed was writing letters of encouragement to a young gentleman who is new to our parish but is currently finishing up his sentence in the local prison.... We know that everybody makes mistakes but those shortcomings do not define us as being the amazing beings of light that we were born to be! We are all descendants of Christ and therefore worthy of infinite second chances!! Always a chance to reinvent yourself!! Praise be to God!!! What a great week!!! Only one more amazing day left!!
