I’ve read that the reason L for le***an comes first in LGBTQIA+ is because it was the le***ans who cared for the gay men dying of AIDS.
When no one else wanted to touch them,
and they were banished to die alone in wards, abandoned by family,
it was the gay women who gave them water to drink, washed their bodies, held them in their last moments.
