Darcie was looking to get rid of her cable bill and use streaming services to access her favorite news and history-related channels. There is an affordable internet provider in Troy known as . They charge far less than what Darcie was paying for cable and internet access. Combined with an affordable streaming package Darcie would be able to save over $100 a month. We discussed those options and planned to meet again, after Massive Mesh determined if the closest transmitter would reach Darcie’s house.

She also had a set of refurbished security cameras that she wasn’t able to get set up. After determining that the cameras were not able to connect to her WiFi due to their age Darcie asked me to research a new set of cameras, as well as a new router to replace the one she was renting from Spectrum. I found what I felt were good products at reasonable prices and sent her the links to purchase them.

About a week later I followed up with Darcie. Unfortunately, Massive Mesh was not able to find a strong enough signal to feel comfortable that she wouldn’t have reception issues. They are hoping to install more transmitters in her area sooner than later. Until then, Darcie will have to keep her current internet provider. The router and camera system that she ordered had arrived in the meantime and we set a time to install them.

With the moral support of her sweet and chatty dog Moe I set up the router and cameras. We tested the motion detection and used the camera system’s app to schedule when the cameras would alert Darcie to motion (dusk to dawn) and looked into storage systems for recording video from the cameras. All she needed to order was a simple thumb drive that would plug into the camera systems hub and store the recorded video.

As we were wrapping up, Darcie mentioned that the streaming “stick” on one of her TVs was giving an error message stating that there wasn’t enough power going to the stick for it to function properly. She needed a power adapter that would directly plug into an outlet, preferably, the adapter that came with the stick. We weren’t able to find it so I dug around in my bag of used power adapters and found one that worked for her streaming stick. We made sure the stick powered up properly, I packed up, and we made tentative plans to add a camera or two.

I look forward to working with Darcie in the future and appreciate her business.
