Our baby bear crossed the Rainbow Bridge wrapped in love,
at home in her bed,
with both of us holding her
just as we had always promised we would.
We gave her the best morning we could —
steak and cheese for breakfast (twice),
a slow hike filled with all her favorite smells,
and one last swim in a place she loved.
She came home happy, full, and safe,
and that is how she left us.
Bailey lived a full, adventurous life,
and we are so honored to have been her moms
for 8 of her 10 years.
We will miss the snoring,
the loud sighs when dinner was late or bedtime wasn’t on schedule,
the lip-smacking when she ate something especially good,
and even the time she got into the trash
and ate an entire bag of Lay’s potato chips —
without a single regret.
She taught us unconditional love, patience,
and how to find joy in the simple things —
a soft bed, a good meal, a swim, and being together.
We didn’t let her be afraid.
We didn’t let her be alone.
She was surrounded by love until her very last breath.
Run free now, sweet girl.
Your hips are strong again,
your body is light,
and your spirit is whole.
Forever and always,
you will be our little bear. 🐾🌈
