One of the biggest (and most preventable) stressors I see with my brides is hiring a “family friend” or “friend of a friend” for an important wedding role without anything in writing. Handling this is a delicate situation but I ALWAYS have my clients best interest in mind.
I completely understand the intention — you trust them, you want to support someone you know, and it can feel more comfortable than hiring a vendor. But when there’s no contract, no clear expectations, and no defined responsibilities, things can quickly become unclear… and unfortunately, sometimes fall apart.
A few things to think about:
✨ What exactly are they responsible for?
✨ What time are they arriving and leaving?
✨ What happens if something goes wrong or they can’t show up?
✨ What experience do they have?
This isn’t about doubting someone’s character — it’s about protecting your big investment...your wedding day!
Your wedding day is not the place for “we’ll figure it out.” It deserves structure, professionalism, and accountability… no matter who you hire.
The best-case scenario? Everything goes smoothly AND your relationships stay intact because expectations were clearly set from the beginning. 🤍
If you do hire someone you know, just make sure you still treat it like a professional agreement. A simple contract or written agreement can make all the difference.
You deserve to be fully present, stress-free, and soaking in every moment of your day — not troubleshooting preventable issues. ✨

Seven years… and wow, what a ride it’s been. 💜
When I started this journey, I knew I loved weddings—but what I didn’t realize was how much I would come to love everything that comes with them… the families, the stories, the behind-the-scenes moments, the chaos, the magic, all of it.
