A little enrichment for the Bald Eagle! This guy does important work and deserves some fishin’ time.

Today our eagle received a beak trim and a few replacement feathers through a process called *imping*. After a couple of flight feathers were broken, donor feathers were carefully attached alongside new feathers that are growing in to help protect them as they develop. A little maintenance goes a long way in keeping our ambassador healthy and ready for educational programs.

We wanted to share an update on the Bald Eagle recently admitted from Leelanau County.

While she is not out of the woods yet, she has made significant improvements over the past few days. Her eyes are now open, she is standing on her own, and she has begun eating solid food.

She is currently being treated for lead poisoning and appears to have suffered from an additional form of toxicity. Tomorrow, she is scheduled for an eye exam as she is experiencing vision issues, and additional blood work has been sent out to help us better understand her condition.

As encouraging as this progress is, the costs of her care are adding up quickly. Diagnostics, medications, laboratory testing, and ongoing supportive care are all critical to giving her the best possible chance at recovery.

Every eagle that comes through our doors represents a commitment to provide whatever care is needed, for as long as it takes. If you would like to be part of this eagle's recovery story, please consider making a donation. Your support directly helps cover the cost of treatment and ensures we can continue helping raptors in need throughout our region.

Thank you for being part of her recovery journey.
