The LGBTQIA+ community is vast, and because of that, it must be advocated for. LGBTQIA+ Affirmation Therapy is a mental health therapy that prioritizes acceptance and growth by meeting individuals where they are and validating their experiences.
The benefits of researching medical practices and psychologists to understand if they align with your values and beliefs have three significant impacts:
1. Avoiding homophobic and transphobic medical professionals or mental
health providers.
2. Finding trust and acceptance in medical/mental health settings.
3. Feeling understood by medical professionals who can guide you through
LGBTQIA+ specific concerns.
A common question that arises when discussing this topic is: What do I talk about? At TGP, we encourage our clients to discuss anything directly related to their life overall or, more specifically, their mental health. This does not mean every topic discussed is centered around LGBTQIA+ topics. However, the purpose of finding a therapist whose values align with your own is to enhance your experience and establish a comfortable space to talk about health.
Here at The Goode Practice, we ensure that all individual experiences and client’s identities are affirmed. We provide a safe and non-judgmental environment to explore everyone’s unique experiences. Our therapists have a collaborative approach to therapy to ensure that clients are understood.
Trust your medical and mental health providers and live a fulfilling life aligned with your values. Schedule your initial consultation today.
