Today is my birthday.

This past year, I poured myself into building my business and sharpening my skills as a musician. I opened a music school, became a stronger teacher, guitarist, singer, performer, and a more capable businessman. Friends and colleagues often praise my work ethic, and while I’m proud of that reputation, it’s not the whole story of who I am or what I want for my career.

In the year ahead, I’m shifting my focus a bit. I’m going to dedicate more of my time and energy to my artistry. I’ve genuinely enjoyed the business side of my music career and the growth of my technical skills (and I’ll keep developing them) but I’ve always seen those things as a means to an end.

My deeper passion has always been self-expression through music: writing songs and performing my own material. This year, I intend to use the skills and resources I’ve worked hard to build to serve that passion more fully.
