🌬️Are You Breathing…or Just Surviving?
Quick test:
Put one hand on your chest and one on your stomach. Take a deep breath.
If your chest and shoulders rise first, you’re probably breathing from your upper chest, not your diaphragm.
Your diaphragm is the large muscle under your lungs that’s designed to do most of the work. When you breathe with it:
✔️ Your belly gently expands
✔️ Your shoulders stay relaxed
✔️ Your nervous system calms down
✔️ Your core activates naturally
Chest breathing, on the other hand, is often shallow and tied to stress. Over time it can contribute to neck tension, headaches, tight shoulders, and even low back discomfort.
✨ Try these simple exercises at home to encourage proper breathing with your diaphragm:
Shoulder pain isn’t always just a shoulder problem.
The shoulder is one of the most mobile areas in the body…which also makes it easy to irritate.
We often see shoulder discomfort connected to:
🔹 Poor posture (rounded shoulders, desk work)
🔹 Neck and upper back stiffness
🔹 Repetitive movements (lifting, sports, work tasks)
🔹 Previous injuries
Movement of the shoulder doesn’t rely on just one joint. It depends on the shoulder blade, collarbone, upper ribs, neck, upper spine and the shoulder joint itself all working together.
When those surrounding areas don’t move well, the main shoulder joint has to compensate, and that’s when irritation and strain build up.
✨Did you know? Chiropractors don’t only adjust the spine. We can also adjust the shoulder blade (scapula) and the shoulder joint itself to improve motion, reduce stress, and help the whole system function better.
Chiropractic care focuses on restoring proper movement and support so the shoulder doesn’t have to overwork.
