The Fox Theater in Hutchinson KS is great example to visit for Preservation Month. The community chose to invest in this historic Art Deco asset. Historic theaters like this exist on Kansas Main Streets all over the state. What theater would you like to see preserved?

For Preservation Month we are going to share a composite photo of the A.S. Allen Building at 1401 Main in Great Bend, Kansas. As you can see this building has had many lives and many storefronts over the years. In 2017, the present owners decided to embark on a journey to reverse some of the many horrors that have been done to this building. The worst of these was a 1970s metal mansard roof that covered 2/3 of the front of the building. In 2023 Kansas Main Street was involved and with some design services and some Historic Tax Credits a dramatic transformation took place!
