Researchers in Belgium studied honeybee exposure to frequencies between 0.6–120 GHz, finding that radio waves may influence orientation, navigation, and stress responses under lab conditions. Some experiments suggest impacts on foraging behavior or immune strength, but data above 6 GHz remain scarce. Experts emphasize the need for further investigation before drawing conclusions about connections to hive losses.

Grand burial structures resembling beehives, known as tholos tombs, were typical of Mycenaean sites and held generations of family burials. Gold bee-shaped appliqués, which were stitched to burial shrouds, have been discovered in tholos tombs at Pylos and Peristeria.

These grave goods attest to wealthy burials and a taste for imported luxuries from as far away as northern Europe and Egypt.
