🚨 URGENT SAFETY NOTICE – FIREWORK RECALL 🚨

Northside Volunteer Fire Rescue wants to make our community aware of an important fireworks recall issued due to potential safety hazards.

If you have recently purchased fireworks, please review the recall information in the attached images from the insurance office and the safety commission. Do not use any fireworks that are included in the recall.

Please:
• Check the product name, lot number, and packaging against the recall information.
• Stop using any recalled products immediately.
• Follow the instructions provided for returning or safely disposing of the affected fireworks.
• Share this post to help keep friends, family, and neighbors informed.

The Fourth of July should be a time of celebration—not preventable injuries. Always use fireworks responsibly, keep a water source nearby, and never allow children to handle fireworks without close adult supervision.

Stay safe,

On July 2, 2026, at approximately 1557 hours, Northside Volunteer Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire at *** Glenwood Drive, Thomaston, Georgia.

While units were responding, Upson County 911 advised the residence was actively on fire. Dispatch later confirmed all occupants had safely exited the structure.

Engine 83 arrived on scene at 1607 hours and reported a working structure fire with heavy smoke showing from the attic area. Crews initiated an aggressive interior fire attack while conducting a size-up. Fire conditions were determined to involve the attic space, with heavy smoke and fire extension.

Due to the volume of fire, Northside Command requested additional manpower and for incoming units to catch a hydrant.

An all-call for additional County personnel was also initiated. Additional responding agencies included
Thurston Volunteer Fire & Rescue ,
Thomaston Fire Department,
Rock Hill Fire Department,
Yatesville Fire Department,
Lincoln Park Fire Department,
EMS, law enforcement, and Georgia Power. A special shout out to Upson County 911 for there hard work and attentiveness on the radio. A true lifeline.

Firefighters encountered rapidly deteriorating conditions, including attic flashover, roof collapse, significant fire extension through concealed spaces, and a compromised roof structure.

Command ordered all personnel to exit the structure when roof integrity became unsafe and transitioned to a defensive/exterior attack until conditions improved.

Fire attack operations continued from multiple divisions, focusing on the Alpha and Charlie side, garage area, attic, and roof voids.

Additional hoselines were deployed as needed, and coordinated ventilation and overhaul operations were conducted. Georgia Power responded to disconnect electrical service due to overhead power hazards.

As suppression efforts progressed, command reported the fire contained from the garage to the chimney area, with crews continuing to extinguish remaining hidden fire within the attic and wall spaces. Several firefighters were evaluated by EMS for heat-related exhaustion and returned to rehabilitation.

The Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office responded to investigate the cause and origin of the fire. Fire suppression and overhaul operations continued for several hours before the incident was placed under control.

We are thankful for no injuries to the occupants and no major injuries to any fire personnel that needed to be treated.

The Cause of the fire is still being investigated by the state fire Marshall office.

Fatherhood is one of the most important jobs there is.

Northside Fire Rescue would like to give a special shoutout to our Training Officer, Pillars, on becoming our newest dad!

While we spend countless hours training firefighters, responding to emergencies, and serving our community, nothing compares to the responsibility of raising the next generation. The lessons we teach our children today—hard work, respect, integrity, accountability, and compassion—will shape the leaders of tomorrow.

To all the dads out there: thank you for investing your time, energy, and love into your kids. Thank you for teaching them how to be good people, how to work hard, and how to enjoy being kids while preparing them for the future.
The greatest legacy any of us will ever leave isn't a fire truck, a title, or a rank—it's the example we set for our children.
Congratulations, Pillars, and Happy Father's Day to all the dads making a difference every day. Your impact reaches farther than you may ever know.

‼️roadway is back open, use caution as the tree has been placed in the ditch until road dept can remove it.‼️

Waller road at 19N is closed while fire units and utility companies work to get the tree out of the power lines and cleared from the roadway.

At approximately 4:30 AM this morning, Northside Fire Rescue was dispatched to the intersection of Hannah's Mill Road and Fallin Road for a report of a tree on a vehicle.

Units arrived within minutes and found a passenger vehicle trapped beneath a large pine tree that had fallen across the roadway. The tree was also entangled in downed power lines and fiber optic cables, creating a hazardous situation for both responders and the occupants of the vehicle.

After confirming that all occupants were uninjured, crews stabilized the scene and coordinated with utility personnel. Once it was verified that the power lines were de-energized, firefighters safely removed the tree from the vehicle and assisted the wrecker service with removing the vehicle from the roadway.

With the assistance of the Chief's tractor, crews were able to carefully remove the large tree and clear the roadway, allowing EMC personnel to safely begin repairs to the damaged utility infrastructure.

We are thankful that no injuries occurred and appreciate the cooperation between emergency responders, utility crews, and towing personnel in bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.
