NYPD 47 Precinct

Yesterday, members of the 47th Precinct gathered to honor the memory of Patrolman Lawrence Gallagher during a ceremony commemorating the 90th anniversary of his line-of-duty death. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us in paying tribute to our fallen brother, including our distinguished guests, the NYPD Ceremonial Unit, the Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York, the Gallagher family, and the family of Detective First Grade Didarul Islam. Your presence helped ensure that Patrolman Gallagher's courage, selflessness, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

The 47th Precinct proudly congratulates Police Officer Ortiz on receiving a Commander’s Day Award for her exceptional courage and decisive police action.

Upon arriving at the scene of a violent crime in progress, Officer Ortiz immediately intervened, separated the offender from the victim, recovered a loaded firearm, and safely placed the perpetrator into custody. Her bravery, sound judgment, and commitment to protecting those in danger exemplify the highest standards of the New York City Police Department.

Congratulations, Officer Ortiz, on this well-deserved recognition!

Stay alert and protect your money.

Following a gunpoint carjacking in the confines of the 47 Precinct, responding officers immediately transmitted a description citywide. With assistance from the Westchester County Police Department and Yonkers Police Department, multiple individuals were apprehended, a firearm was recovered, and the victim’s stolen vehicle was located.
