Everyday our law enforcement officers wake up, say goodbye to their families, and head to work not knowing whether or not they will return home. They put everything on the line every time they clock in. Today the risk is higher than ever, yet without complaining, these brave men and women put on a badge and protect our way of life. Many of our brothers and sisters in blue have made the ultimate sa

Ten years ago today, five officers in Dallas gave their lives in the line of duty. We remember each of them by name: Sergeant Michael Smith, Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens, Officer Michael Krol, Officer Patrick Zamarripa, and DART Officer Brent Thompson.

This is the moment Golf for COPS began. In the days that followed, Jim McDavid heard a widow speak on the radio, and her words stayed with him in a way he could not set aside. What he felt in that moment became the work we carry forward still: to stand beside the families of fallen officers, to honor the ones they have lost, and to see that their sacrifice is never forgotten.

Behind each of these five was a family who loved them and a community that relied on them, and the absence they left behind is felt as deeply now as it was that day. We hold them in our hearts today, and in every year that follows.

At the conclusion of a truly sensational weekend, three members of the Golf for COPS family earned their way to a top 10 finish in the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge.

Eric Cole fired the round of the tournament, a 7-under 63 on Saturday, and carried a four-shot lead into Sunday's final round. He came within a single playoff hole of his first PGA Tour victory, finishing solo second in one of the most dramatic finishes of the season. Ben Griffin, defending his title as the reigning Charles Schwab Challenge champion, closed with a 65 on Sunday to finish tied for third, just one shot out of the playoff. Ryan Gerard opened with a 64 on Thursday, earned a spot in the final group alongside Cole on Sunday, and finished inside the top ten.

This is who stands with us. This is who gives their time, their talent, and their presence to honor the families of fallen law enforcement officers, and this weekend, they reminded everyone just how good they are at what they do.

We could not be prouder to call them family.

For Jim McDavid, founder of The McDavid Group Charities, the origin of Golf for COPS begins in the summer of 2016, on a stretch of road with the radio on, listening to a widow share her story.

She was the wife of one of the five officers killed in Dallas only weeks earlier, and as she described how reality sets in, with three kids to raise, trying to rebuild a life that no longer has its foundation, Jim knew that he had found his purpose. That December, the first Golf for COPS tournament was played, what was thought to be a simple tournament would give way to more than a decade of supporting the families of fallen law enforcement.

Some venues need no introduction.

This summer, Oak Hill opens its fairways to Golf for COPS for the first time. On June 28 and 29, one of the most storied courses in American golf becomes the setting for two days dedicated to our mission, as a gathering of players, partners, and supporters embodies a purpose far beyond the scorecard.

With every dollar raised moving toward the families of fallen law enforcement officers, providing scholarships that help their children pursue the futures their parents worked so hard to give them, we're incredibly excited for this newest chapter of our story, and hope to see you there.

There may be no better way to spend a morning.

This week, it was our privilege to host over 40 law enforcement officers from Jupiter, Tequesta, and the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office for breakfast, an event that stands as an acknowledgement of the men and women who show up for our community every single day. We were honored to share the morning with Tequesta Mayor Molly Young, Honorary Chairperson Pat Fiore, Nick and Megan Menster of Protector's Prayer , and Vince Papale, whose presence reminded everyone in the room what it means to never give up on those around you.

Thank you to Wawa, Natalie's Orchid Island Juice Company, Mission BBQ, Bagel Bistro, Thin Blue Line USA, Graze Craze, and Girl Scouts of Palm Beach for their generous donations and for helping us show up for the people who show up for all of us.
