It's OFFICIAL official!!! We've won this race!!!
These numbers - all 12,750 of them - tell a story: that Tempe voters are paying attention, and they are ready for a change in our city's leadership and direction.
I want to extend a HUGE thank you to Tempe for entrusting me with this honor. I'm excited to serve this city and to get to work!!
CONGRATULATIONS to my fellow new Councilmember-Elect, Bobby Nichols!! ๐ฉต I'm ecstatic to work with you and see what we can get done for our beloved hometown Tempe over the next four years!
I want to thank Councilmembers Berdetta Hodge and Jennifer Adams for their service to the City of Tempe. Running for public office takes passion and bravery and determination, which both of you possess in spades. I look forward to seeing what you both do next.

Brooke

Stepping into this role as councilmemberโelect, Iโm filled with gratitude and energy for what comes next.
Iโm bringing together a transition team of trusted community voices from every corner of Tempe, and Iโm honored that the Honorable Harry Mitchell has agreed to serve as Committee Chair.
These are leaders who know our neighborhoods, understand our challenges, and care deeply about our future. Iโm grateful for their partnership as we turn this win into real, communityโdriven progress.

When I first became President of the Kyrene Middle School PTO, it was November of 2020. My son spent his sixth grade year online, and our PTO meetings were also online. About two meetings in, I asked Serena, the Treasurer, who appeared to be running the meetings absent of any other Board members, if she needed help.
"Will you please be the President? No one ever wants that job. It's so much responsibility," she replied.
So I said yes, and we recruited a Secretary, and just like that, we had ourselves a little team of moms working together to pull that PTO through COVID and rebuild a sense of community once we were back on campus.
I'm really proud of the work we did in those years. And when it was time for my son to graduate, I knew that I needed to find someone amazing to take over the helm.
Enter Paul Beakley.
I knew Paul as one of the few involved Dads from the Waggoner PTO, and that his child would be entering KMS as mine was exiting. And that he might be crazy enough to say yes to all of my courting and begging.
But when you know you are leaving a position that you hold dear, and you are proud of the work you did, it's important to find someone to replace you - who you know will do even better than you ever could.
Because it's not about the person or the position, it's about the work. It's about having a good team around you, and it's about the community you serve.
Paul has done INCREDIBLE things with the KMS PTO in the past three years - far beyond what I ever could have wished.
As he exits the role and moves on, I just want to say THANK YOU, Paul. For being more than I could've hoped for. I hope you have a wonderful summer!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, aunties, caregivers, and mother-adjacent figures out there! ๐
A very SPECIAL Happy Mother's Day to own Mom, Linda St George who, in addition to showing me endless love and support, has shown me what hard work looks like, how to balance a career and motherhood, how to care for others outside my own family, and how to believe in myself.
..and I don't post about my son much, for his own privacy, but being Dutch's mom has been the biggest gift of my lifetime. That baby face in the picture below is about to turn 18 this summer, and I couldn't be prouder of the young man he has become.
Wishing everyone a happy, relaxing Mother's Day. You earned it, ladies. ๐ฅฐ

It feels like it was yesterday that Drink Me! Tea Room opened up in South Tempe. And yet, it's been SIX YEARS!! My goodness, how time as flown.
In addition to being the owner of Drink Me! Tea Room and Drink Me! Tea and Treats, Melissa just made history by being the first woman elected to a District seat on the Board of Directors in SRP's over-100-year history.
Drink Me! is a certified Green Business, and her election to SRP's Board was part of a historic flip of that board to a majority of climate-change-aware, clean-energy-focused members dedicated to affordability and reliability.
She also serves our Tempe community as a Commissioner on Tempe's Sustainability & Resilience Commission, and as an active leader for Tempe Leadership.
I'm so proud to have Melissa's endorsement of my campaign for City Council, and I look forward to working together to build a sustainable Tempe, for ourselves and our children, and for the generations that follow.
THANK YOU, Melissa!

Happy Small Business Week from my volunteers and myself, Tempe!! ๐
Today, we traveled around the city for a Small Business Blitz, supporting the places that truly make Tempe unique.
We started at Sesame Donuts, a locally-owned shop serving up the BEST donuts and coffee drinks.
We then stopped by the newly-opened Besties Bakeshop for some cupcakes that were absolutely TO DIE FOR!! (Can you tell I like sweets? ๐)
Finally, we swung by Maskadores Taco Shop for our Volunteer Appreciation Party, celebrating all the grassroots supporters that truly make this campaign run with tacos and treats!
Tempe small businesses are the heart of our community. I'm proud to support local, and as your city councilmember, I'll advocate for our small businesses every single day. ๐
