Edit: I feel like I need to add that he really is the sweetest little boy! He’s so smart and constantly cracks me up. I wouldn’t change a thing (okay, maybe the night meows 😆).

Edit 2: Yes, avocados are technically poisonous but the toxin is mostly present in the leaves, skin and pit. Still, he only gets very tiny amounts once in a while. I promise, he’s fine. Thank you for caring.

Hi all 👋🏻 I’m new to the group and I present you with a new as***le: Ninja. 🐈‍⬛

When he was two, between an illness and a knee surgery, he cost me $10,000 in 6 months.

He is a sneaky, sneaky food thief. Nothing is safe around him, even if he doesn’t like it he’ll get into it just because I said no. When I tell him not to jump on the counter I get a big “MEOOOW” 😩 (translation “but moooom!”) His faves are avocado and nutritional yeast. Never mind that he eats expensive prescription food with added probiotics which he loves. I have to keep my blender on top of his automatic feeder because if I don’t, he knocks it over which pops the lid off and gorging ensues. The last incident resulted in him projectile vomiting all over his cat tree.

He HAS to cuddle on my lap every night before bed…but on his terms. So if I get tired and go to bed before cuddles he cries and cries at my door. He also cries at my door after his breakfast (I thought I’d avoid this with the automatic feeder but no 🤦🏻‍♀️). He cries at my door when he decides it’s time for me to get up. He doesn’t want me for food or cuddles or anything. I just need to be up.

I have tried letting him sleep with me but he’s an absolute menace. Walking all over my face and hair, off and on the bed and furniture, meowing just for fun. I can’t do it, guys.

Aaand just for some fun added guilt: he likes to sit on my jewelry box and stare at me when I get ready for work.

My cat is an as***le and I couldn’t possibly love him more. 🖤

I’ve been curious for years, and no-one has been able to give me a good answer: how is it possible to build two houses so close together and finish the adjacent outer wall of the house that’s built last? Some of the older houses in our area are so close together that a slim person can barely squeeze sideways between them. Example shown.

Edited to say: Wow, looks like I have really started something- didn’t expect this much interest! Thank you all for your ideas. What seems to now make the most sense would be that the close wall may have been built on the ground horizontally and then raised up. Or possibly built from the inside. But it’s still beyond me what would happen if either of the houses developed a problem on the side where someone can’t get to because if the other house.

I did not bring you into this world, but I slept on my belly.
It was not necessary to nurse you because I fed you with my love every day.
I didn't change your diapers, but I did pick up your p**p with a baggie. I didn't calm your crying with a pacifier, but I gave you security when fear made you tremble and you ran into my arms.
I didn't take you on the swings, but we spent hours in the park together.
I don't protect you from bullying, but if someone growls or attacks you, I defend you tooth and nail against anyone.
I don't teach you to write and draw, but I teach you to be polite.
I challenge you, punish you and forgive you like a father.
I miss you when I do not see you.
I take you everywhere with me, and I think of you as a son. At night I wake up to see if you sleep next to me, I look at you and caress you.
You do not have my blood, but between the two there is a unique bond.
Happy day to the people who take care of our pets like a son who does not speak, but who tells us I love you with his eyes.
Happy day to all the people who love their pets with parental love.”

To the lady dropping her husband off at the airport today—I saw you. The camo bags, the flags, all things that represent serving our country—I saw you.
I stopped and told your husband thanks for his service, but I can’t imagine the sacrifice you make daily as well. Tears were rolling down your face, and my heart sank as I knew you were saying goodbye for probably a while.
As your husband held your daughter and kissed her goodbye I watched you. You were trying so hard to be strong. I can’t imagine what you feel today, tomorrow, and the days that are ahead.
I may not know you, but today, you were prayed over. I’m sorry so many of us take his service and your family’s sacrifice for granted.
To the lady at the airport—today I was reminded of how costly freedom is. ❤️

Last night, my son Jordan came into my room and said, "Mom, let me tell you what happened to me today! I was at Walmart, getting ready to leave, and my car battery was dead. So, I went back into the store and bought some jumper cables.

There was a man in a white truck parked next to me. I asked if he could give me a jump. He told me what I really needed was a new battery. I explained that I couldn’t afford a new battery right now because I had a $400 insurance bill due today. The man asked if I was a single parent since I had the baby with me, and I told him, 'No, her mom was at work.' He then told me to pull around to the auto department, so I did, thinking he was going to have them charge my battery.

Walmart’s auto department was really busy, so the man suggested I follow him to AutoZone instead. I followed him to the store, where he went inside and spoke with someone. He then came out to my car and told me that someone would be out in a few minutes. He shook my hand and drove off. A few minutes later, an employee came out with a brand-new battery to install in my car!"

Jordan had tears in his eyes as he said, "Mom, I didn’t even get the man’s name!"

To the gentleman driving a white truck in North Augusta yesterday, who helped my son and granddaughter—thank you!!

Ethel “Sunny” Lowry was born in Longsight in 1911. Her dad was a fish wholesaler and she was a 2nd cousin of the artist, LS Lowry.
From an early age, she loved swimming. She would swim regularly at Victoria Baths and Levenshulme Baths. She went to Manchester High School for Girls. The school thought that Sunny was rather too much focused on swimming. Sunny later said: "The headmistress was a rather stern woman and she looked at me from over her half-moon glasses and said 'Lowry, what is your ambition?' I replied immediately, 'To swim the Channel' and she said, without another word, 'Dismissed!'."
By her late teens, Sunny had developed into a strong distance swimmer. She took advantage of family holidays to swim the length of Windermere and along stretches of the North Wales coast. She often liked to wear a two-piece costume, which was very daring for those days. On more than one occasion she said she was "branded a harlot for daring to bare her knees".
She entered an X-Factor style competition in which the winner got to be trained by a top team for a cross-Channel swim. Out of 300 applicants, Sunny was chosen. So, in 1933, at the age of 22, she caught a train from Manchester down to the south coast to begin rigorous training. Her trainer was tough - the first thing he said to her was "'If you say the water's cold, you may as well get off home".
On her first attempt to swim the Channel, she was defeated by strong currents. She tried again the next day, and got to within sight of the French coast. But then a storm blew up. It grew so wild and dark, the team boat completely lost sight of her. She was only spotted when one of the crew caught a glimpse of her swimming cap during a flash of lightning. So that attempt was abandoned as well. After two failed attempts, the team considered giving up, but Sunny said she really wanted to give it one last go.
She set off again, this time from the French side. It was in the small hours of the morning and was still dark. As usual, she had to be covered in grease to protect from the cold. In preparation, she'd been eating up to 40 eggs a week (mostly in omelettes) and pushed up her weight to 14st 7lb, because it was predicted that she would lose a pound for every hour in the sea.
During the swim, she ate nothing, but paused now and again to drink coffee, cocoa and beef tea, which she swigged from a medicine bottle dangled over the side of the es**rt boat.
After swimming for 15 hours 41 minutes, she finally emerged from a rough sea, and crawled up the beach at St Margaret's Bay, near Dover. Her face and neck were swollen with jellyfish bites, and her lips were cracked and blue. She was exhausted. But she'd made it.
She thus became the 6th woman to swim the Channel and the 3rd British woman ever to do so.
After her successful swim, Sunny returned to Manchester and was she greeted by cheering crowds at Central Station. She accepted that her moment in the limelight would not last and she dedicated her life to teaching swimming. She later married and her husband, Bill, was also a swimming teacher.
She was later awarded an MBE. Sunny was described as a wonderful, gentle, kind lady. Her great niece said: "She was as fit as a fiddle, as sharp as ninepence, and she kept on swimming well into her 90s".
Sunny died, aged 97, in 2008.

PSA: Don’t feed your dogs rotisserie chicken.
I’ve done it many times thinking it was chicken and a good treat for my boys.
Well, Saturday night I mixed the chicken juices with some rice and gave it to my boys. They devoured it of course. That was about 6:30 pm. Around 11:30 pm one of my dogs was ringing the bell to go outside, when I got downstairs there was a giant pile of puke with all the rice and other food he had eaten. He was clearly not feeling good but I didn’t think too much about it. He was pretty unsettled in the morning but I was still thinking it was something that was going to pass.
I did a few things that day and came back around 3:00, it was clear that there was something very wrong now. He wouldn’t lay down, his back was now arching up, panting, kept trying to throw up. So we took him to urgent care. They took X-rays and gave him fluids and anti nausea meds which seemed to help. Looking at the X-ray the doctor was thinking pancreatitis sent us in our way while waiting for the radiologist to read the report. We got a call that the radiologist thought there was an obstruction. Well we now headed to the emergency vet. They gave him fluids and kept him comfortable until the ultrasound tech got there. Upon scanning they found no obstruction.
Gastroenteritis was the verdict. My boy has not eaten since Saturday night, and is in so my pain but I am hoping that we are turning a corner with the help of our vet giving fluids and anti nausea meds daily.
When our vet called yesterday he was concerned that maybe gastroenteritis wasn’t certain then my husband aid could this be because we gave him rotisserie chicken. The vet was like”yes!!!” Now that he knew that we gave him that he said he sees this like once a week. Apparently it’s the fat in the juices( we didn’t give them any skin).
Maybe some dogs tolerate it for sometime. Mine both have eaten this many times, and no issues. This time only one of my dogs got sick but he is sooooooo sick. It is heart breaking to watch and to know it was because I gave him the chicken.

The picture is of my boy Apollo at noon trying to tell me he didn’t feel good.

*** he died this morning. My heart is breaking into a million pieces.

To all those that were kind thank you. I shared so that others will not have to go through what we went through.

This is my cat, Maggie. As you can see, she loves tacos & all foods (except bacon). She will steal your food the second you turn your back. She sits on a seat, like a person, at our dining room table every night for dinner. She will put her chin on the table to let you know she’s interested. We used to give her tastes of certain things, but then she got chubby. She has lost the weight since we cut her off at dinner time.

She’s the sweetest, most loving cat I’ve ever had. They called her “The Love Bug” at the shelter where I adopted her. She is not an as***le, but is always trying to touch me with her as***le. The vet said that’s an extreme sign of love. Lucky me! 😹

Did you know that stray dogs wake up very early in the morning with the aim of looking for food and water to stop hunger?
If they find nothing, they start eating w**d to feel like they are chewing something, and then end up falling asleep all day, outside a house, at bus stops, trying to save what little energy they have.
When they wake up, the hunger has not gone away, on the contrary, it has increased and they go to the garbage bags.
Please help the street dogs, we don't pretend nothing has happened, we don't turn away.
Many people chase them away, but they also belong to this world.
Do not be indifferent, it is terrible to suffer from hunger and thirst and not be able to speak.
Street dogs just want to survive.
If you see a dog, alone and looking for food, help him.
Let's all save a life! ❤️

Michael J. Fox was born Michael Andrew Fox on June 9, 1961, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Phyllis, an actress and payroll clerk, and William Fox, a police officer and Canadian Forces member. Fox grew up in a close-knit family, and his early life was marked by frequent moves due to his father's military career. He developed an interest in acting during his high school years, which eventually led him to Hollywood. In 1988, Fox married actress Tracy Pollan, whom he met on the set of the popular television show "Family Ties." The couple has four children: Sam, twins Aquinnah and Schuyler, and Esmé. Fox and Pollan have been praised for their strong marriage and family values, often citing their deep connection and mutual respect as key to their relationship’s longevity.
Fox's personal life took a dramatic turn in 1991 when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at the age of 29. He initially kept his diagnosis private, but in 1998, he went public with the news, becoming a prominent advocate for Parkinson's research. His family has been a constant source of support throughout his health challenges, and Fox has often spoken about how his wife and children have helped him cope with the disease. Despite the difficulties, Fox has continued to act and has written several books, sharing his journey and inspiring many with his resilience and optimism.

In 1945, Ernest Borgnine returned to his parents' house in Connecticut after his Navy discharge without a job to go back to and no direction. He took a local factory job, but was unwilling to settle down to that kind of work. His mother encouraged him to pursue a more glamorous profession and suggested to him that his personality would be well suited for the stage. He surprised his mother by taking the suggestion to heart, although his father was far from enthusiastic. In 2011, Borgnine remembered, "She said, 'You always like getting in front of people and making a fool of yourself, why don't you give it a try?' I was sitting at the kitchen table and I saw this light. No kidding. It sounds crazy. And 10 years later, I had Grace Kelly handing me an Academy Award."
Borgnine on "Marty" (1955): "It was made, believe it or not, as a tax loss -- it was made to lose money. They only wanted to make half of it, then junk it, put it on the shelf and that was it. But the tax man said, 'No, no, no -- you have to finish the picture, show it one time, and then you can take your tax loss.' So they poured all of $273,000 into the picture. I got $5,000 for the entire picture, and I would have done it for nothing because it was my first starring role.
"I remember leaving the set one time at 'Bad Day at Black Rock' (1955), and Spencer Tracy said, 'Hey, where are you going?' He said, 'If anybody leaves early it's me, I'm the star!' He was kidding, of course -- I hope he was anyway. And I told him, 'I've got to go down and read.' He wanted to know what I was going to do, and so I explained the picture to him and everything else. He said, 'Hmm. It sounds pretty good. All right, go ahead, you'll make it. Don't worry, everything will be fine.' The next year I beat him out for an Academy Award."
