For today’s we are showing off the Jim Dunlop Guitar Products tech cleaning kit. This video demonstrates primarily how simple the System 65 tech kit is to use when deep cleaning any stringed instrument. We used the formula 65 cleaner/polish to bring the body back to a factory shine and the fretboard 65 lemon oil to rejuvenate the (very thirsty) fretboard. The kit also comes with Ultraglide 65 string cleaning compound, 2x microfiber cleaning cloths, micro-fine fret polishing cloths, and a string winder for faster string changes.

This guitar was brought in by an employee here at the shop which I took as the perfect opportunity to showcase our favorite cleaning products in the Dunlop tech kit. We also utilized the System 65 guitar setup mat, Pepers' Pedals Rocket Sockets, and the System 65 magnetic parts tray to make the process as simple as possible. Of course the finished guitar will also be strung up with Dunlop 10 gauge strings.

The guitar was quickly stripped of components to ensure an effortless and well needed deep clean and then reassembled. A follow-up video showcasing the installation of the K-GMOD2 wiring upgrade will be coming soon.

Thank you for watching!

Pictured here is an old RCA vacuum tube caddy which has held up well over the years. These were often loaded with commonly-needed replacement tubes and carried by radio and television repair technicians who would provide at-home service for vacuum tube equipment.

There were various tube caddy styles from well-known tube brands of the era like GE, Sylvania, Zenith, and Tung-Sol. Many of them have a similar construction to this RCA caddy, with 3 distinct sections that fold out, but you can also find caddies with 1-2 sections and slide-out drawers.

Tube caddies in good condition are still sometimes sought after for use as a display piece, collector's item, retro storage case, etc.

We've added a new layout to the Pedal Layouts & Build Guides section of our website - the Interfax HP-1 Harmonic Percolator. The Harmonic Percolator is a unique-sounding fuzz with a unique and unusual circuit topology. The original Harmonic Percolator used a silicon 2N3565 transistor and a germanium 2N404A. We just listed some NOS Micro Electronics 2N3565 transistors and Texas Instruments gold pin 2N404As. 2N3565s are silicon transistors in a TO-106 package. They were used in a variety of other fuzz pedals as well, including the Sam Ash Fuzzz Boxx and Foxx Tone Machine. Our TI 2N404A stock is quite limited, but we have plenty of non-TI 2N404As in stock as well, along with a wide variety of germanium transistor types you can experiment with in that circuit.

This is built in a brown enclosure to match the color scheme of originals. The k***s are our phenolic 33mm RCA-style k***s on 16mm Alpha pots, and one of our soft-click footswitches is used along with a low profile prewired LED, enclosed Switchcraft jacks, and a Lumberg barrel jack.

Inside, the build is wired up on our 2x6 turret board with Vishay caps, carbon comps, a silver mica cap, and an NOS 2N404A and 2N3565. One of our adhesive battery cushions is used to hold the battery in place with the lid closed, and the battery is connected using one of our rigid frame 9V clips.
