The Trophy Den is a family owned business established in 1969 and originally run by Ed and Udell Busch; longtime Tempe residents. We specialize in custom engraving, trophies, plaques, corporate awards, plaques, and medals to fit any occasion or budget. We also offer name tags, industrial panels, electric tags for business or industrial use. The golden Oscar statue is prepared every January for the upcoming Academy Awards by RS Owens & Company, the Chicago-based awards manufacturer hired by the Academy since 1982. The company is responsible for casting, molding, polishing and buffing the statuettes.
The Oscar’s film reel features five spokes which signify the Academy’s five original branches, namely the actors, directors, writers, technicians, and producers. Until 1945, the size of the reel base varied.
