Very interesting day spent with my father. I met a gentleman named Eric and we were chatting about military service and my dad. Turns out, with his 6 years as a reservist in the Navy, he qualifies for the Honor Flight to Washington. The same for his twin brother, except he was active duty with the marines. I never knew that this group has been able to give back to our vets in this way.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of V-J Day, the official end of World War II. By that date, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs projects that only 299,824 of the 16 million Americans who served in WWII will still be living. In 2019 we have lost nearly 90,000 WWII veterans alone.

And if you can believe it, the Korea era veterans are just five years behind our WWII vets.

If you meet a veteran at the grocery store, church, the post office, please tell them about the Honor Flight. The veteran's trip is completely donor funded and he/she will have no expense. We have taken over 1,400 veterans since 2010 and the vast majority will tell you it was a trip of a lifetime.

The first step is to go to: www.honorflightsandiego.org and click on the veteran application. We are also happy to send a hard copy application through the mail, just give us a call or shoot us an email or IM.
