Finbro Construction is proud to announce its fifth Award of Excellence from the Town of Telluride’s Historic Architectural Review Committee for our work at 218 North Willow Street.

The project involved renovating a home built in the 1890s, as well as an original shed from Telluride’s original mining boom. Upon gutting the original home, we discovered that a fire had significantly burned all of the rafters. We were impressed that the roof was still standing and holding snow with no issues after more than 130 years.

We raised the home, poured a new foundation and basement beneath it, and preserved all of the original structure, siding, porch posts, windows, and the stone rubble from the original foundation. The shed was surgically disassembled, and all materials were reattached to a new structure, including the original roofing panels. We then added an addition between the home and the shed.

Historic preservation is one of our passions and is so important to the Telluride community. We are honored to get to build projects like this in our hometown.

Finbro Construction recently completed another landmark historic remodel, completely refurbishing the original Train Depot for the Telluride Science and Research Center. We are thrilled with the opportunity to maintain the historic integrity of such an important part of Telluride's legacy and especially excited that this building will be available for the public to enjoy in addition to the important missions of TSRC. It was a truly rewarding and successful project.
