Field Based Behavior Support

Sometimes people mistakenly feel that behavior intervention overlooks feeling or the importance of the parent-child relationship. Sure, there are behaviorists out there that practice this type of intervention but not us, not here at FBBS!
Being a clinical psychologist heading this venture means that I have a wider view of the picture. I see not only the behavior but also the relationship. I see the system in action. So the way we intervene with behaviors takes into co side ration both classical behavior principals and also relational and attachment concepts - yes, it is possible to combine the two.
Strict behaviorism overlooks the importance of the parent-child relationship. We do both. We are both. In our eyes, being in tune with your child is just as important as having the brilliant behavior technique. If we stay in tune with our child's needs, and we set our children up to behave well, It is possible to have solid behavior management and attend to the relationship simultaneously.
What are some strategies you use to remain in tune with your child?

Solid discipline is dependent on a good relationship; we can’t ever forget that. Overly focusing on strategies in my parenting work with families is never the goal. The key is to find a balance working on the relationship dynamics while integrating effective tools. It’s in this balance that the magic happens.
