Choosing between a screw-retained and cement-retained implant restoration depends on clinical priorities, and understanding the differences is key to long-term success.
Screw-Retained Implants:
✔️ Easier retrieval if maintenance or adjustments are needed
✔️ Minimal risk of residual cement causing peri-implantitis
✔️ Ideal for limited interocclusal space situations
Cement-Retained Implants:
✔️ Superior esthetics — no visible screw access hole
✔️ Allows for more freedom in implant positioning
✔️ Useful when screw access would compromise occlusion or esthetics
At PFD Digital Lab, we fabricate both screw-retained and cement-retained implant restorations with precision — using high-quality materials, digital workflows, and experienced design teams to ensure a seamless fit.
Not sure which option fits your case best? Our team is happy to help you plan the perfect restoration.

When scanning for implants, it’s crucial that the scan body doesn’t touch the prep or soft tissue. Even slight contact can throw off accuracy, leading to misfit restorations and unnecessary chair time.
âś… Double-check scan body placement
âś… Ensure full seating without interference
✅ Take a quick photo if you’re unsure, we’re happy to confirm
Precision starts at the scan. We’ll take care of the rest.
