This is a very good article, but I'd like to add a few things.
In addition to regular AED training, unannounced mock drills are important. These should be done at least quarterly...1) to refresh the minds of staff and trainers (because if you don't use it, you lose it); and 2) to actually evaluate how well the team responds in a "real" emergency situation. Most states do NOT mandate that a fitness center has an AED on-site but it IS the right thing to do based on the statistics on survival rates with a defibrillator close by.
How to Ensure Your Club and Staff Are AED-Ready Developing and maintaining an effective AED program is a significant step in managing the risk of sudden cardiac arrest in fitness facilities. Read on for tips on ensuring you, your team members and your facility are prepared for any situation.

Do the math...labels can be misleading. This Ground Beef label clearly states 90/10, leading us to believe that this product is only 10% fat, and 90% lean. The truth is that the product is only 10% fat by WEIGHT, not by calories. If you read the actual nutritional information, this product contains 11 grams of fat -- at 9 calories per gram -- meaning 99 of the 190 total calories per serving are from fat. That's HALF, not 10%. Ground beef tends to be fatty...a simple rinse in the colander after browning will eliminate a good portion of the saturated fat. To enhance nutritional value, mix with equal portions of the soy-based "crumbles". This ground meat look-alike will take on the flavor of anything you add to your dish (i.e. taco seasoning, sloppy joe mix, mom's famous chili recipe) and your family will be none the wiser.
