New Seeds Festival

Elvira Arellano, has been inspirational in creating awareness that immigrants rights are human rights. Two years ago she led about 100 people of whom 35 were young undocumented immigrants who grew up in the U.S., in a noisy but peaceful protest . They were detained at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. They tried to cross the border from Mexico with the intention of being detained, so they could apply for asylum. Maria’s Song is inspired from Elvira’s time seeking sanctuary in a church with her U.S.-born son.
