Plastic Resin Prices.
As of late March 2026, plastic resin prices are experiencing a sharp upward surge due to significant supply chain disruptions and rising energy costs. Commodity resins such as Polyethylene (PE) and Polypropylene (PP) have seen contract prices jump by as much as $0.10 to $0.11 per pound in March alone, with even larger increases announced for April.
Commodity Resin Market Trends (March 2026)
Market analysts attribute the current volatility to geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East, specifically the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has choked off global supplies of oil and gas.
Polyethylene (PE): Contract prices increased by $0.10/lb in March. Major producers like Dow Inc. have already announced a further $0.30/lb hike effective April 1, 2026, while LyondellBasell is seeking a total increase of $0.35/lb through May.

Always good to look at packaging material stock and think 45-60 days out and have that quantity of material on hand or on order.

Automate End of Line Packaging
End‑of‑line automation by Quick Pak Inc connects case forming, packing, sealing, labeling, stretch‑wrapping, and palletizing into a coordinated system. By integrating new and existing equipment with the right controls and material handling, your packaging lines run more consistently, with fewer manual touches and less unplanned downtime.
What can be automated:
Case erecting and forming: Automated case erectors and formers turn flat blanks into square, repeatable cases ready for packing. This reduces manual box building, improves packer ergonomics, and sets a better foundation for downstream sealing and palletizing.
Case packing and sealing integration: Cases move seamlessly through manual or automated packing stations into sealers, with conveyors and controls tuned so product and cases arrive in the right orientation and sequence. The result is fewer bottlenecks and less rework at the end of the line.
Labeling, printing, and verification:Print‑and‑apply, inkjet, or labeling systems are integrated into the line, with options for code verification and basic inspection. This reduces manual labeling effort and helps ensure barcodes and date codes are applied and checked consistently.
Stretch‑wrapping and pallet handling: Automatic or semi‑automatic stretch wrappers and pallet handling equipment are tied into the line, so pallets move smoothly from build to wrap to staging. Controls and safety are aligned across the end‑of‑line area for clearer operator workflows.
Conveyors and controls between steps:Conveyors, transfers, accumulation, and controls logic connect all end‑of‑line elements—from case erectors through palletizing—so the system behaves as one line instead of a set of isolated machines.
End‑of‑line projects begin with a detailed review of your current equipment, layouts, and operating goals. We looks for ways to reuse reliable assets, fill gaps with new equipment.

Importance of Quality Protective Packaging
Protective packaging is essential for ensuring products arrive at their destination in pristine condition. Whether you are shipping fragile items, electronics, or bulk materials, the right packaging safeguards against damage, reduces returns, and improves customer satisfaction.
Assess Product Vulnerability: Every shipment is unique, and so are the challenges it may face during transit. Conduct a thorough assessment of your products to identify weak points. This will guide your choice of protective packaging materials, such as bubble wrap, foam inserts, or corrugated cardboard.
Choose Sustainable Packaging Materials: Sustainability is no longer optional; it’s a business imperative. opt for recyclable and biodegradable materials wherever possible. At Quick Pak, we offer eco-friendly protective packaging solutions that minimize environmental impact while maintaining robust protection.
Right Sizing Your Packaging: Over packaging leads to wasted materials and increased shipping costs, while under packaging risks damage to goods. Striking the right balance ensures your items are well-protected without unnecessary bulk. Custom-fit packaging can also enhance sustainability by reducing material usage.
Layering for Maximum Protection: Use a multi-layered approach for added security. Start with a cushioning layer to absorb shock, followed by a protective outer shell for structural integrity. For fragile items, consider adding dividers to prevent movement and breakage.
Seal Effectively: Proper sealing is a crucial step in protective packaging. Use high-quality packing tape or adhesive to secure boxes and prevent accidental openings during transit. Double-check seals for large-scale shipments to ensure consistent quality.
Invest in Testing: Testing packaging under simulated conditions, such as vibration, impact, and temperature variations, can reveal potential vulnerabilities. This proactive step reduces risks and helps you refine your protective packaging strategy.
Train Your Team: Consistency is key in large-scale operations. Ensure your team is trained in best practices for packing and handling goods. Proper training reduces errors and contributes to faster, more reliable shipping processes.

Choose the Right Stretch Film
Selecting between cast and blown stretch film isn’t just about cost, it’s about finding the right balance between load type, environment, and budget. Here are the main considerations:
Match Film to Your Load Type: Lightweight, uniform loads (like consumer goods, packaged food, or retail shipments) Cast film is usually sufficient. It’s clear, cost-effective, and works seamlessly with high-speed machine wrappers.
Heavy, irregular, or sharp-edged loads (like bricks, lumber, construction materials, or machinery parts) Blown film offers superior puncture resistance and load retention, ensuring goods don’t shift in transit.
Consider Your Application Environment: Indoor, controlled environments, cast film performs well where temperature and handling are consistent.
Cold storage, outdoor shipping, or rough handling, blown film maintains strength and durability even in tough conditions.
Factor in Equipment and Budget: Automated pallet wrappers, cast film is easier to apply, runs quietly, and delivers consistent stretch ratios.
Manual or semi-automatic applications, blown film may require more effort to apply but offers unbeatable holding strength.
Sometimes, the best solution is not “cast vs blown” but a combination. Some facilities use cast film for standard loads and blown film for high-risk shipments.
If clarity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of application matter most, cast stretch film is the way to go.
If your shipments demand durability, puncture resistance, and high load retention, blown stretch film will deliver superior performance.
At Quick Pak Inc we help you match the right film to the right job. Call us at 813 242 6995 or [email protected] for more help and information.
