World Humanitarian Day is observed on August 19 every year to recognize humanitarian personnel and those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes. Humanitarian concerns with promoting human welfare.
The day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2009. This year’s World Humanitarian Day builds on the metaphor “It takes a village to raise a child”. Similarly, it takes a village to support a person in a humanitarian crisis.
