Washington State Task Force

Congratulations to these two spectacular dog teams!!!!! They both passed their FEMA certification in Riverside, CA (CA-TF6) this past weekend. WOOHOO!!! (WOOF WOOF )
Dena Haney has been a Canine Handler with WA-TF1 since 2019. She has both Live Find (LF) and a Human Remains (HR) canine. This last weekend she recertified with Remi, who makes things look so easy. Like any handler before any evaluation, Dena was a wee bit nervous, but Remi knew better!! Two peas in a pod! Remi knew she had it in the bag all along!!!! Congrats to both of you!!
Jo Huxel has been a Canine Handler with WA-TF1 since 2016. She, too has both Live Find (LF) and Humans remains (HR) canines however this evaluation was something special! This was Krabat's first official FEMA HR Evaluation, and he passed with flying colors. Not shocking though as he has siblings that have been showing him the way......his sister Cassia who is LF (soon to retire), brother Rumo who is also LF (ready to step up when Cassia says she has had enoughwith working & just wants to play every day) and then a brother Bax who is HR. Krabat will step into Bax's spot once Bax decides he wants to play & pester sister Cassia 24/7. What a family!!!!
Both handlers show so much dedication, passion and selflessness it is absolutely remarkable!!!!!
Join WA-TF1 in thanking and congratulating Dena & Remi, Jo & Krabat!!!! 🇺🇸 🥰👏Very well done!!

Thank you to Pierce County Emergency Management for being such a supportive sponsoring agency! Believing in what we do, why we do it and believing in each task force member makes each deployment even more special! Being able to respond when our own home state is in need meant the world to us! A big thank you to the many sponsoring agencies for supporting all of the members on such short notice, to all of their co-workers for filling in all those shifts and an even BIGGER thank you to the families that support all of us!!! We can’t do it with out all of you so from all of us, THANK YOU! ❤️🇺🇸💙

Our members that are deployed to Skagit County as a state asset are keeping busy! Between mission assignments and doing area recon, they are doing an amazing job! This deployment is a heavy water incident due to all the flooding and so safety has been at the forefront of everything they do, for the 2 legged and the 4 legged. We are so very grateful to be assisting the community of Sedro Woolley in Skagit County. The photos are from over the last two days. Stay safe everyone!
