Our Cupboard is Bare! Can you help?
We are in immediate need of newspaper, towels, flat sheets, and fleece or sherpa blankets.
We happily accept any pet-related donations, but would greatly appreciate donations of:
- FOOD: Canned cat and dog food, and unopened dry dog and cat food in 4-5 lb bags OR 7-8 lb bags.
- TREATS: For dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs.
- TOYS: New or gently used pet toys.
- DOGS: New or gently used collars, gentle leader headcollars, harnesses, and leashes (leashes are in high demand).
- KITTENS: Miracle ni***es, powdered kitten milk replacement, and Calmaroo cats
- HOUSING: Crates (including wire) and 30" metal, 8 panel, exercise pens.
- TRAINING AID: Treat pouches, clickers, and Pet Corrector.
- OTHER: Cat litter and metal or ceramic food and water bowls (no plastic, please).

Donations can be left in the bright yellow bins at the front of the Care Center or inside the lobby 7 days a week. The Care Center is located at San Jose Animal Care Center, 2750 Monterey Road, San Jose, CA 95111.

So what happens to all of those donations? The staff and volunteers use many of them to enrich the lives of the pets in our care. Other donations help pet adopters and fosters get the basic supplies to help their new friend settle in. Additional donations are the foundation of our Pet Pantry, a self-help, a no-questions-asked resource for low-income, fixed-income, or unhoused pet parents. Pet Pantry donations also make their way out of the shelter and into our community thanks to Animal Care Attendants who work with our unhoused neighbors and Animal Services Officers who keep a supply of food, leashes, collars, and harnesses with them for community members who need them. Open bags of food are regularly diverted to non-profits that support unhoused pet parents.
