Your kitchen is one of the spaces you spend the most time in. Want to make it shine before you sell or before holiday company comes over?

Here’s 3 quick tricks to upgrade your kitchen without having to upgrade your wallet…

1 – Cover up the dings and scratches. There are markers created exactly for this! Even if your puppy got ahold of a pantry door, a fresh coat of paint (or just a few dabs) can work wonders.

2 – Update the lighting. The light fixture in your kitchen has been there for quite some time, hasn’t it. Head over to your local hardware store and find a modern overhead light to replace it with. At least clean out any bugs that have wandered into your current lighting fixture over the years.

3 – Organize everything! Grab some cute containers and labels, and then, fast forward an hour or two, and your kitchen won’t even look like yours.

Pick 1 and see if you can knock them out over the next week or two!

(And remember, hiring a professional home cleaner is DEFINITELY an option and I know the right people for you!)

• A Programmable thermostat can save roughly $180 a year on heating and cooling costs, making it a purchase that pays for itself. Bonus: Your power company may also give you a rebate for installing one.

•Adding some more attic insulation could lead to long-term savings of as much as $600 a year. HomeAdvisor pegs a cost of roughly $1.50 to $3.50 a square foot depending on the kind of insulation you choose.

•For around $25 or less, the Wemo Mini Smart Plug can give you remote control of your favorite fan, a humidifier, the Christmas tree lights, or even that curling iron or space heater you’re always forgetting to turn off.

•Whatever modest amount you spend re-caulking and replacing worn-out weather stripping around windows and doors can be recouped in as little as a year in the form of lower utility bills, according to the Department of Energy.

•Being able to control sprinklers from your phone or with a voice assistant, these systems can sense exactly what your lawn really needs, skipping cycles if the soil is already saturated or if there’s rain in the forecast.
