Recently, Elly and Ashton oversaw the City's required documentation of the Wylder Parkway Phase 2 Percolation Test—a critical step in understanding how water moves through the site's soil.

A total of 18 test pits were evenly spaced and excavated along the Phase 2 corridor. Each pit was then filled with 12 inches of water and monitored over time. If the water level drops 4 inches or more within 4 hours, the soil is considered to have sufficient drainage.

While it may look like a few holes in the ground, this testing provides valuable information that helps guide the design process. Understanding how quickly water infiltrates the soil allows us to tailor irrigation strategies, plant selection, and drainage solutions to the site's actual conditions.

The result is a landscape that is better equipped to thrive long-term, uses water more efficiently, and performs as intended for years to come.

It's one of many behind-the-scenes steps that helps transform good design into successful, sustainable landscapes.

We're excited to welcome this year's interns to the team!

Investing in the next generation of landscape architects, planners, and designers is something we care deeply about. Internships provide an opportunity to bridge the gap between the classroom and the profession, giving students hands-on experience while helping them explore the many paths a career in our industry can take.

We're proud to support emerging professionals as they develop new skills, gain confidence, and discover where their passions can make the greatest impact.
