I’m happy to announce that Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the PA Department of Environmental Protection to support the development of a new regional glass recycling operation in Centre County ♻
This funding will support planning and engineering work needed to expand glass recycling efforts and repurpose specialized processing equipment. Once operational, the project will help recover and recycle more glass from communities across the multi-county region.
Investments like this strengthen our recycling capacity, reduce waste, and support a more sustainable future for our communities. I couldn’t be more grateful for the important work CCRRA does every day.

June is Pride Month! An opportunity to embrace and celebrate everyone in the LGBT+ community, and to acknowledge that love knows no bounds.
Keep an eye out for events and celebrations here in our area and across PA - and I especially look forward to seeing everyone at the annual State College Pride Parade and Festival on Saturday, June 13th!

June is Aphasia Awareness Month! My District Office Director recently had the opportunity to speak with local aphasia advocates to learn more about this condition.
Aphasia is a chronic communication disorder that affects a person’s ability to speak, understand others, read, and write. The most common cause of aphasia is stroke, and more than 2 million people in the U.S. are currently living with aphasia.
Learning more about the experiences of those living with aphasia reinforced why I’m proud to co-sponsor a House Resolution designating June as Aphasia Awareness Month in the Commonwealth.
Here are simple ways you can improve communication when talking with someone with aphasia: be patient, speak slowly, avoid guessing what they are trying to say, and write things down when helpful.
