There have been so many times when I “should have” gone for something that I really wanted and didn’t.

And instead of figuring out what was stopping me from moving forward, I made excuses

⛔ It’s not the right time
⛔ I’m not the right person
⛔ I don’t really want this anyway
⛔ It probably wouldn’t be worth the effort
⛔ I’m not finished with what I need to do here yet

In reality, it was fear that was holding me back (even though I refused to admit that at the time)

Fear
of failing
of being successful
of the unknown
of what other people would think

I found myself back in that place about 4 years ago.

It was when I was considering leaving corporate America to start my own coaching company.

And if that weren’t enough stress, it involved leaving my home in Manhattan, moving to a foreign country, and moving in with my partner for the first time.

The thought of it was terrifying and exhilarating

I knew I’d be a great coach but had absolutely no idea how to start and grow a small company

I was bored out of my mind with my job – but would entrepreneurship be any better?

I loved my colleagues and network of people – would they slowly fade away with me out of the picture?

Would the business fail?

Would I be financially destitute?

Would anyone take me seriously if I’m working from a tropical island?

And ultimately… Do I have what it takes?

Here’s what I was really afraid of…
