One of the biggest misconceptions homeowners have is assuming their homeowner’s policy covers all types of water damage. In reality, coverage often depends on where the water came from.
💧 Water Damage (often covered)
✔️ Burst pipes
✔️ Overflowing appliances
✔️ Accidental plumbing leaks
🌊 Flood Damage (typically NOT covered by a standard homeowner’s policy)
✔️ Rising water from heavy rain
✔️ Overflowing rivers or creeks
✔️ Storm surge
✔️ Water entering from outside the home
Many homeowners are surprised to learn that flood coverage usually requires a separate policy.
