It’s a known fact that Napoleon’s troops carried yo-yos but the music of the time?
If Napoleon was a yoyo player what about Beethoven? Well we think Beethoven would have definitely played Yoyo and Kendama! Imagine….Beethoven dealing with war and issues of deafness taking a break from composing to: silently bending at the knees…….swings Ken……wood flying high……..catches ball….balance…..jump…..wing stall…..360 flip….drop!
200 years after the Yoyo boom of 1815 we see the same battles being fought with Kendamas and Yoyo’s! Our next judge, CJ Atkinson, has the same emotional fervor as Beethoven or Napoleon and will judge the 2026 UYYC ladders and freestyles! CJ does it all whether competing or designing Yoyo’s & Dama’s, and in fact also actually wrestles!

*Beethoven’s “Name Day” Overture, Op. 115 is a 13-minute concert composed during the Napoleonic Yoyo Boom of 1815!
*time period was huge for Yoyo & with Napoleon’s troops occupying Beethoven’s Vienna; we imagine Beethoven exposed to the Yoyo just like the world was indeed exposed to Beethoven!
