Louis, we support over 250 community gardens, school gardens, urban orchards, and urban farms in the St. We believe that by educating and empowering individuals through gardening and urban agriculture, we can connect people to the land, to their food, and most importantly, to each other. Louis (formerly Gateway Greening) has become a community of gardeners, farmers, neighbors, friends, and volunteers building deeply rooted, resilient urban communities throughout St.

π₯³ We're excited to welcome two Americorp VISTA Summer Associates! They are with us for eight weeks and will be helping us with lots of summer projects.
Peter Hageman started two weeks ago and has already helped us with the big task of installing our new shade structure for seedlings. (More on that later!) He has a bachelor's degree in Public Health and is interested in using it to mitigate food insecurity in his community. He's excited to be at Seed St. Louis this Summer and to learn more about the intricacies of connecting community through gardening.
Erin RenΓ©e joins Seed St Louis as an AmeriCorps Summer VISTA to support the Community Projects team. Her work in St Louis as an multifaceted artist, healer and earthseed centers in creative activation work, encourages connection with
nature, and builds customized wellness practices inspired by collaborations with artists of various mediums.

Don't miss our only virtual class in July, Vegetable Pest & Disease Management! π
Controlling pests, diseases, and weeds, especially organically, can be hard. In this virtual class on Thursday, July 9th, at 6:00 pm, we'll discuss our favorite ways to deal with these issues in the vegetable garden. We will also cover how to support beneficial insects, some companion planting, common pests and diseases, and the best control techniques for the community and home gardener. π
