A while back I started playing with Midjourney AI… at first it seemed like a handy tool to maybe create some interesting backgrounds or explore variety of Sid Mead inspired illustrations… not a tool I’d use much for everyday work, so I put it away. The last few weeks I’ve been swamped with my daily commercial work so I haven’t had much time for any creative projects… Also, my serial collaborator Andrea is off getting her PHD so impromptu creative shoots aren’t really and option right now. So after a thorough read of Marius Troy’s “Quickstart guide to fashion photography in Midjourney”. I felt maybe I’d give it another try. I figured why not try a concept that I would likely never be able to pull off in real life. So armed with a new understanding of text prompts, a variety of gowns, and 2 tons of flower petals that we wouldn’t have to clean up, Andrea and I headed to the bustling streets of Paris in silica. What follows is a product of both chance and persistence alongside some carefully crafted prompts.

Note: If you haven’t read Marius’s guide you should. The only thing I’d add is, to make these images even more specific I prompted Midjourney to use the reference model to generate the images, and then used the InsightFace plugin to further match Andrea’s face. It’s not perfect as it misses some specific nuances of her face but it gets it even closer than those to options separately.

I had the pleasure of shooting with Maddie while she was home for holiday break. We had such a fun shoot (more images to come) and I think she has a great future in front of the camera.

Not been on Instagram as much lately since I’ve had the pleasure of traveling and shooting a bit more for my favorite ag/tech company in preparation of their IPO. I’ll be sharing more of my work with them in the coming weeks.
