The Young Scientist Program
Founded in 1991 by two M.D/Ph.D. students, the Young Scientist Program is designed to attract high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds into scientific careers through activities emphasizing hands-on research and individualized contact between young people and active scientists.

Calling all 11th grade students in St. Louis: YSP Summer Focus 2023 applications are now open!
If you (or someone you know) are interested in science or medicine and want to gain hands-on research experience this summer, then apply to the Young Scientist Program - Summer Focus program!
Applications are due February 13, 2023. Program dates are June 5 - July 28, 2023. Summer Focus Scholars will receive a $4,000 stipend, conduct a biomedical research project, and complete two courses on science communication and college prep.

New Summer Focus directors Maple and Kitra are out at the local St. Louis schools to spread the news: Summer Focus 2020 applications are now open!! The program runs May 27-July 24, 2020.

Today is day 2 of our Summer Focus Boot Camp. In just 8 weeks the Scholars will present their biomedical research findings in a symposium. We are excited to see their progress!

Getting involved in the YSP leadership team is a great way to not only gain experience in teaching and mentoring students but also to freshen up on your leadership and administrative skills. Come to the town hall meeting to learn everything about the structure of YSP, the different leadership positions and how to get involved in our leadership team!
