Build it and they will come.” The classic Kevin Costner line from Field of Dreams. He was correct, build it and THEY will come. The “They” is native pollinator species. When we construct and or restore a native pollinator habitat, the native pollinators come back. They find these newly restored sites with no social media help, no phone calls or emails, they just plain come. We recently were told an electric transmission line site we worked on over the last four years has been graded “Highly Beneficial Habitat” during a recent CCAA audit. That’s great news, it builds on recognition from the Missouri Department of Conservation for our River Des Peres corridor project in 2023. The Greenhouse Venture Right of Way project was identified in 2022 by the SLU Bee Lab as their most diverse study site that year. Each year we have the opportunity to work on right of ways, solar fields, sub stations, parks, private property and corporate campuses – they all are creating new meaningful habitat for native pollinators.

So… keep building, keep restoring and they will keep coming.
BRING ON THE POLLINATORS!
