Some rabbits quietly blend into the background.
H***y Tonky has never considered that as an option.

This little guy believes he should be involved in everything you do.

Making dinner? H***y Tonky would like to supervise.
Sitting on the couch? H***y Tonky has notes.
Having a bad day? H***y Tonky is prepared to investigate personally.

His foster mom says, “Need a fun guy who will help you pick what drink to have with your dinner, and celebrate your wins with you by jumping for joy?

He’ll even come check on you if you need to lie down on the floor.

What a guy!

H***y Tonky rules my kitchen. Has figured out where I keep the greens, and the wine (even though he can’t have that).

He’s good with his litter box. Is super cute to watch explore.

Really his only flaws are being too cute, too perfect, and he likes to chew those brown, rough textured doormats. So none of those in his reach.
H***y would do great in any home, and I think would LOVE a bun friend.”

We’re struggling to find a downside here.

He's friendly, curious, entertaining, litter box trained, and apparently committed to quality control inspections of both produce and beverages.

If you're looking for a rabbit with a big personality and an even bigger zest for life, H***y Tonky might just be your guy: https://forms.gle/xatrAFuJh65GYqTG9

What a day...and it's not even 3 PM yet.

My alarm went off at 5:20 this morning so I could hit the gym. After that, I ran home to let the dogs out, ate breakfast, and knocked out a few chores before heading to the rescue.

At 8:15, I picked up our high school volunteer, Lillie.

But first...I realized I'd forgotten my laptop at home.

So we made an emergency detour back to my house before heading in.

Then the fun really started.

We had NINE pallets of inventory arrive in 2 separate deliveries. One of our brand new fosters, Ron, showed up unexpectedly and immediately jumped in to help. He even brought donuts for everyone!

Let's give Ron a big thank you in the comments!

We spent the morning unloading, counting, organizing, and putting everything away. Inventory days are my least favorite rescue days. They're exhausting, they're never-ending, and today it was unbelievably hot. Talk about 6-7 hours of that.

Meanwhile, people kept showing up hours before we opened. Customers. Salespeople. More salespeople.

Every salesperson wanted to talk to the owner, so I just kept saying, "Oh, I don't know where she’s at. We're just teenage volunteers here doing inventory."

I'm not saying they 100% believed me, but I committed to the bit.

In between inventory, we broke up several bunny fights, treated another bunny in stasis, and helped one of our adopters after a house fire. We loaded up supplies and brought them over right away. Thankfully, both the family and the bunnies are safe.

Then the store opened (and it's still open), we met lots of wonderful customers, and next up is Bunny Yoga from 5-6 PM.

After Bunny Yoga, I'm sprinting home for a shower and a change of clothes before heading to my triplet sister's birthday party.

Her theme?

"A We**ie Bit Older."

A hot dog-themed birthday party.

As one does.

Also, don't forget: there are only 2 DAYS left to order a crochet bunny through our fundraiser! Every purchase helps support the rescue: https://katiealay.com/products/ddhr-fundraiser-colorful-bunny-plushies

Do you work for an apartment complex in the St. Louis, St. Charles, or greater STL area?

We’d love to partner with you this fall.

Dolly’s Dream Home Rabbit Rescue is a foster based nonprofit rabbit rescue serving the STL region and beyond. If there’s a bunny who needs help, we’re there.

This fall, we’re hoping to partner with local apartment communities by offering free 1.5 hour bunny meet-and-greet events for residents. We’d bring friendly rescue rabbits, provide education on proper rabbit care, and create a memorable resident experience.

It’s a win for residents because they get a unique, low stress event, plus the chance to learn about a pet that can be a great fit for apartment living.

It’s a win for apartment communities because rabbits are quiet, litter trained, spayed or neutered before placement, and housed in setups designed to prevent destructive behavior. They don’t bark, don’t create noise complaints, and can be a wonderful option for responsible residents who want companionship without the challenges that sometimes come with dogs and cats.

It’s a win for the rabbits because approved foster homes allow us to save more lives and Dolly’s provides the supplies needed to help fosters succeed.

A fun resident event, education, community connection, and a way to help homeless rabbits? That’s the kind of partnership we love.

If you work for an apartment complex and would like to host a bunny meet-and-greet this fall, please reach out.

And if you live in an apartment, share this with your leasing office or property manager. We’d love to bring the bunnies to you. 🐰
